File Description

Another quality and accurate addon by the BWMod which must be downloaded if you have the rest of the BWMod packs.

The Alouette II is a further development of a design whose roots can be traced back to the German Focke-Achgelis Fa 336 developed during WW2. Built by Sud-Est Aviation and later Aérospatiale in France, the first Alouette II (SE 3130) took flight in 1955. Although the Bundeswehr had been operating four different types of light helicopters since it was established in 1955, none of them offered the performance required for reconnaissance and liaison tasks. Based on results of comparative tests conducted in 1958, the Alouette II was selected, with 247 SE 3130 ordered in two batches in 1959, and another 53 of the improved type SE 3180 in 1964. In the following years, both the Heeresflieger (reconnaissance and liaison) and the Luftwaffe (20 for basic training) operated the Alouette II. With the Luftwaffe centralizing basic training in the US and to simplify maintenance, all SE 3180 and some SE 3130 were transferred to police and border guard squadrons. Beginning in 1979, the Bo-105M replaced the Alouette II as the army's reconnaissance and liaison helicopter, with the SE 3130 now being used for Heeresflieger basic training. Since in 2002 the EC 135 SHS was introduced, numbers of operational Alouette II dwindled until in 2006 the last of this famous type was taken out of Bundeswehr service. The Alouette II (SE 3130) is powered by a single 265 kW Turboméca Artouste II C6 turboshaft engine, allowing a dash speed of 170 kph. With its 580 ltr fuel tank, the SE 3130 has a maximum range of 450 km. The spacious cabin offers excellent all-around vision and seating for the pilot and up to four passengers.
