VERSION HISTORY =============== 1.0 (16-02-03) - First release ADDON DESCRIPTION ================= This addon provides a comprehensive list of US Army 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, and 75th Ranger Regiment units. Both Desert 3 color and US Woodland I versions are included along with a new set of highly accurate weapons and equipment modeled by Ballistic Addon Studios as well as those noted in "Special Thanks." Features include:- - Highly accurate and comprehensively researched Delta units in US Woodland I and Desert 3 color camo - Highly accurate and comprehensively researched Ranger units in US Woodland I and Desert 3 color camo - New Kawasaki dirt bikes as used by special ops in US woodland I and desert camo - Extensive weapons pack including a variety of M4's and other spec ops weapons in a variety of configurations - Animated goggles - New character models - As an added bonus we have included a unit called "Soldier" and "DES Soldier". (see the BAS_DeltaCodes.txt for info on how to use these units - they use the setobjecttexture function). During the development of this addon we relied heavily on the input of many "real life" operators. BAS would like to give special thanks to all active serving and past members in the US military and the Special Forces and Ranger community of the US Special Operations Command. The addons you will see in game are the product of meticulous research and a commitment to quality by the BAS Team. Every single member of BAS had input into this addon. The team has worked tirelessly to bring what we hope is one of the best addons available in the OFP community. Personally, I (Tigershark) would like to thank them all for their persistence, belief in the end product and commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Big thank you goes to Frandsen..who joined up...started the initial models and then left for the Army....good luck Frandsen. Enjoy the addon from the BAS Team! INSTALLATION ============ There are 4 PBO files in the zip file, which need to be extracted into your Operation Flashpoint/Addons folder. (NOTE: you can use either the OFP/Addons or Res/Addons folder) Put the following in your addons folder: bas_derad.pbo bas_deraw.pbo bas_weap.pbo bas_kawa.pbo KNOWN ISSUES ============ - Warped Goggles when in vehicles. Sometimes the goggles will appear warped when a unit is sitting in a vehicle. We believe this is caused by the treatment of animated objects in cargo proxies but have yet to identify and correct this issue. - SOFLAM pop-up on AI units. When an AI unit equipped with the SOFLAM readies the weapon for use but before selecting it as the primary weapon, the model will shift from his back to a raised position. This is in fact a change in models since we had to use two different models to get firstly a good position when equipped and secondly a good position when it is stowed on the back. The pop-up is caused by the some delay with the modelspecial game code. The SOFLAM will pop back down when the unit uses the rifle to shoot. No solution has been found to prevent the pop-up at this stage. Charles Beckwith, who had completed an exchange program in the 1960s with the elite British SAS. The U.S. Army’s 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (SFOD-D) is one of two of the U.S. government’s principle unit tasked with counterterrorist operations outside the United States (the other being Naval Special Warfare Development Group). Delta Force was created by U.S. Army colonel Charles Beckwith in 1977 in direct response to numerous, well-publicized terrorist incidents that occurred in the 1970s. From its beginnings, Delta was heavily influenced by the British SAS, a philosophical result of Col. Beckwith’s year-long (1962-1963) exchange tour with that unit. Accordingly, it is today organized into three operating squadrons, all of which (A, B, and C) are subdivided into small groups known as troops. It is rumoured that each troop, as the case with the SAS, specializes in HALO, SCUBA, or other skill groups. These troops can each be further divided into smaller units as needed to fit mission requirements. Delta also maintains support units which handle selection and training, logistics, finance, and the unit’s medical requirements. Within this grouping is a little known, but vital technical unit which is responsible for covert eavesdropping equipment for use in hostage rescues and similar situations. BACKGROUND READING ON THE RANGERS ================================= With the outbreak of the Middle East War, the Army Chief of Staff, General Creighton Abrams, saw the need for a light mobile force capable of deploying on a moments notice. On January 31, 1974, the 1st Battalion 75th Infantry (RANGER) was officially activated. Volunteers were accepted and the new Ranger unit soon began training. The 1st BN went through extensive training from March until June of 1974 when they parachuted into their new home, Fort Stewart Georgia. On October 1, 1974, the 2nd BN 75th Infantry (RANGER) was formed and made its home at Fort Lewis Washington. The new Rangers continued to train and often sent small detachments to train units of the Infantry and Airborne Divisions in patrolling and small unit tactics. ABOUT BALLISTC ADDON STUDIOS ============================ Ballistic Addon Studio is a talented group of modelers and texture artists that strive to make the best quality addons for the community. Ballistic was created from the foundations of Tigershark/Jellybelly Productions (TJP) to not only design and create addons but also to help others publish addons using the established quality standards Ballistic believes in. Ballistic has opened up its doors as a publishing house for addons to help the community select from quality assured and realistic addons. Accuracy and quality are given the highest priority. The Ballistic team purchased 3rd party fonts that accurately depict the markings on aircraft from all branches of the US Military service and use hundreds of images from many different angles and data from many sources on the web to make units as accurate and realistic as humanly possible with the confines of the OFP engine. There are so many addons out there (some of them of questionable quality) that it can be difficult to choose which addon is best. Ballistic will set the standard in addon quality where the benchmark has not already been set by another community member. Each addon is researched meticulously and comes with real world photos showing the user how the Ballistic addon closely matches its real world counterpart. The first in the line up of highly accurate models was the MH-6 "Little bird" released in October of 2002. Other projects in the pipeline (in no particular order): - Marine's AH-1W - Marine's UH-1N - Real world retextured UH60 - Desert Scheme MH60G "Pave hawk" - MH60G "Pave hawk" using UH60 (non MG) model with aux. fuel tanks and FFAR pods.
