File Description

VBS, the military version of OFP, you saw it, wanted it, saw the price and thought no way! Thanks to the talented scripter Gaia you now get a little taste of what VBS is. An absolutely amazing mission!

TOP1's ambition is to bring Operation Flashpoint closer to more developed and technically advanced products such as VBS1™ or so far unreleased Armed Assualt where we can only speculate about the final result. The aim of this project is to make player think in a tactical manner on the virtual battlefield. Many various features help him in it. The whole system runs on a modification of the executable FWatch file by Kegetys which allows to record player's course through the mission for further usage. Before mission, the player himself can set up lot of adjustable items, beginning with the weather and daytime, through starting position, ending with the role he will play in the operation itself.

I. INTRODUCTION
------------------------------
TOP1's ambition is to bring Operation Flashpoint closer to more developed and technically advanced products such as VBS1™ or so far unreleased Armed Assualt where we can only speculate about the final result.

The real battlefield illusion is amplified by the lack of saving and loading of positions that force player to think of his advance forward and not to tear into the enemy area in a shortest possible direction. The basic missions are optimized in a way, so they are not just playable in those conditions but also possible to finish them successfully. Various situations are simulated, such as simple one team operation, rescue mission deep in the enemy territory or combined offense with infantry, armoured and air forces.

------------------------------
FWatch by Kegetys [0.4 MB]

IV. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
------------------------------
top1_core.pbo - addon for the mission; move to Res\Addons in your OFP folder
TOP1 Missions - folder which contains misisons; move to Missions folder in your OFP folder

V. USER MANUAL
------------------------------
Every mission from the Mission pack 1 starts with a dialogue window when you can set up various parameters. Since it is placed in the intro, before briefing, you have no specific information what will be in the mission, only short notes in the map and settings. You can zoom ou/in the map with the scroller on the left bottom part of the screen, you can move it left/right and up/down with two other scrollers. Map control panel can be hidden using the arrow button near the screen border. Left control panel contains eight areas with the adjustable parameters which you can set us you wish. At bottom of the panel, you can see generated code that you can copy and perhaps sent to other players. If you enter someone else's code and press "Generate code" button, parameters in the fields get particular settings depending on that code. When everything is ready, you quit the dialogue by pressing "Start" button or Escape key.
The mission itself behaves like any other mission, only with exception that it is impossible to save or load the starting position. If you save the game, the dialogue appears during the loading and you are asked to play from the beginning.
During the mission, two record files are generated which you can find in the fwatch/mdb/ folder in game root folder. Their names are top1_##_name_result.top and top1_##_name_events.top where ## is mission ID (in Mission pack 1, it is 01, 02 and 03) and name is a player name in the game environmemt. The first file contains information about units movement and is required, the second file records events in the mission (hits, kills, tasks fulfiling, etc.) and is not necessary. ATTENTION, when you start playing the mission, previous record is overwriten!

You can publish the records at http://top1.bigames.info/result.html

VI. CREATORS MANUAL
------------------------------
Using of ystem is very easy, difficult is only mission optimization. Better than detailed manual is to decrypt basic
mission and look to the TOP1_init.sqs, stringtable.csv and description.ext files, where are all definies located.
Here are some important things to know:

- INTRO SCREEN WITH PARAMETERS
Dialogue is located in addon, you can add it to description by adding following lines to description.ext:
#include <top1_core\rsc\base.h>
#include <top1_core\rsc\engine.h>
Last thing you must do is to set map borders for map view by two empty markers - "corner_lb" (left bottom) and
"corner_rt" (right top). Placing marker named "map_center" you can set default map view.

- MISSION
Using of intro parameters and setting the record vars is again located in TOP1_init.sqs of any basic mission, and you must
again place corner markers. You can also write custom texts to Events list in OPERA1:

Objectives of mission, executed by following line, will be shown in white. Script will automatically set the objective
to the defined status:
["obj",[1,"done"]] exec {\top1_core\system\top1_missionEvents.sqs}
No the first objective will be done. Another states are "failed" and "hidden"

Second variant is black and means any creator defined text:
["oth",["Officer leaves the camp"]] exec {\top1_core\system\top1_missionEvents.sqs}

- INSTANT RECORD
If you don't want to create full TOP1 mission, but only create record, instant record is for you. Needed are only three parameters -
- record ID, units list and delay between single record steps. Use alphabet ID to prevent collision with official TOP1 missions.

["xx",([player] + group enemy1),1] exec {\top1_core\instant.sqs}

This will record movements and info of player and group lead by enemy1 to "top1_xx_playername_result.top" file and with 1 second delay.
Using zero delay will mean non-stop recording.

VII. KNOWN BUGS
------------------------------
- OFP crashes if you're using -nomap parameter on Windows 2000 or lower
