MISSION OVERVIEW:

You're in command of a West armoured squad on Kolgujev in winter time. You must destroy an enemy Main Head Quorters in order to somewhat handicap numericly much stronger oponant, and to open the door for the planned offensive. You must cross two thirds of the island, which is mostly in enemy hands, via northern road to succeed.

NOTES:

This is a fully blooded tank mission. It can be long and challenging, but it really depends from your 'angle of approach'; how you're able to use the potential of yours (and some other) units, it depends from your tactical decisions, how the enemy will (re)act on your actions, and yes, even from the luck on the battlefield.

Shortly after the mission starts, you'll receive an option to reinforce your 3 Abrams squad with an aditional unit: a Vulcan or a Cobra helicopter. Both choices have their advantages and disadvantages, and the enemy in some ocasions reacts on each of your choices differently. Also you'll have a Repair truck under your command; it will join you after the fourth unit will join your squad, or after the end of provided 1 minute time limit. The options mentioned above, and other aspects in the mission adds some randomness, which gives the mission some aditional depth, and increase the replayability factor.

There's a total of six(6) saves in the mission: two retrys cames with the completition of the objectives, then a standard save, and 3 retrys, which the player can access thru the Radio Command (0-0-0).

I suggest everyone give this a try :) , or maybe just me , I like tanks missions.

INSTALLATION:
-------------

Place 'Cold Steel.cain_snow.pbo' file into your Missions folder
(usually C:\Program Files\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\Missions)

Place the addons into your Addons folder
(usually C:\Program Files\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\Addons)

ECP:
---- 

This mission is designed, therefore highly recommended to play in ECP, but you shold also play it quite normally 
without ECP. The mission features some of my visual enhancement scripts (armor burning, barrel burning ...), 
and by my expirience they do not clash with ECP effects, quite uncontrary.


KNOWN ISSUES:
-------------

It can happen, that the support will not reach its designated destination (from where you call them); they can 
colide with an obsticle (tank wreckage, downed tree, M113 Ambulance can drive on mine ...), and make the vehicle 
undrivable (but mostly they'll be still usable for repairing, rearming - a little hint), or the drivers can even 
abandon their vehicle on the slightest sign of distracton. There's nothing much to do in such ocasions, 
but it can help if:

- you call the support from the easy reachable place,

- the distance, that the support has to travel, is not so long; the shorter the distance, 
  the bigger the chance for the support to reach its destination, 

- kill or destroy all the enemy in the area. Well ...

Also it can happen, that if you call the support in enemy base (once it's seized of course), the driver 
from a support vehicle can gradually 'enter' in one of the buildings. I've maked, that the units can't go prone, 
e.g. they can't 'move' on 'go prone - get up' manner, but they eventually can be pushed by other units, etc, 
into the building. This can cause, that the lose conditions will not be met; that the enemy will not detect, 
e.g. will not destroy such a 'hidden' unit, so in this case the mission will not end. But this can happen very, 
very rarely (as the losing of this mission will be very rare - wouldn't be?), so bare this in mind, when you 
calling a support; don't call them to close to the buildings, especially not to the non enterable ones.


ADDONS COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM:
-----------------------------

Kegety's Winter Kolgujev Island addon is not 'compatible' with the newest Kegety's Winter Nogojev Island addon, 
so if you have both islands in your Addons folder, you may expirience some missing addon error messages despite 
you have all the required addons for this mission on your system. Not my, but the addons author's fault. The easiest 
and the simpliest way to overcome this problem should be to create a mod folder, and to put there the addons needed 
for this mission, or just to 'hide' both (or one of them) of the island addons into the folder, and 'replace' (cut 
and paste) one with the other as needed. Anyway, despite of those error messages, there should be no showstoppers 
e.g. you should play the mission normally.


WARNING:
--------

In mission some harsh language is used. So, if you're under twelve ... you can teach me some new cursing.
