There's some exciting new changes coming to PUBG's existing maps soon which should hopefully breath some new life into these existing environments, sarting with Erangel, the game's first ever map.
The news came from an announcement made by PUBG Corp on their website, with the update promising to bring lots of tweaks and additions, including new compounds, changes to the balance of loot drops, and brand new buildings with lots of new item spawns.
We understand that loot balance is a very important part of the game but also recognize that the map layout is just as important, so we’re working hard to ensure that any changes made to either will feel good when completed. We plan to start testing several potential changes to Erangel soon, and will share our plans for these tests in the coming weeks.
So while it'll still be Erangel, expect a lot of new areas, buildings, changes to existing areas and changes to loot spawning, all of which should breath new life into the game. The company are currently testing changes internally and are keen to point out that recent leaks of map changes are not nessasarily what we'll see come the final version.
Keep in mind that leaked images are usually just a snapshot in time and rarely represent the entire plan or scope of what’s being worked on. That said, we’re excited for you to see the full picture, along with the level of thought and work the team have been putting into remastering this fundamental map. More importantly, we’re excited to test it alongside you. Your feedback will be crucial in making Erangel as fun and exciting in the current PUBG environment as it was when we first launched.
There will also likely be beta testing more generally available too, which will no doubt influence the tweaks and changes, so this does very much appear to be a work in progress. The idea is great, though, and I'm personally looking forward to a freshened up PUBG experience coming in the future.
