Space Quest I: The Sarien Encounter was a mod being made for Doom 3 which brings the Space Quest Point and click series back to life with the D3 engine. The team has now decided that they won't be creating this TC for Doom 3 but for Quake 4! Here's what they had to say about the change of plan: [quote]I've made up my mind and have decided to switch development of the SQ1 remake mod to Quake4 once it is released. I think the tools will be better and I think a larger community will form around it. I'll be able to share my work with a larger audience which will be nice. With that said; I have a downloadable version of the mod. It's more a walkthrough exploration version because there is NO gameplay at all. The only thing you can do is walk around the entire Arcada and LOOK at various things. The LOOK mechanic was never finished so it doesn't work as well as I'd like. My previous programmer GunBlade did a great job on the little time he had to work on it though. The downloadable mod 'preview' weighs in at about 14MB. I really don't think a lot of people will enjoy playing it but if you are a die hard SQ fan and REALLY want to take a look at what is done so far, then email reid (at) rbkdesign (dot) com asking for FTP access to download the SQ1 mod preview and I'll hook you up. My next phase is to get ready for Q4. I'm going to recruit some concept artists and start the Q4 development right.
