README

Map: mp_motel
Author: SA ([email protected])
Type: deathmatch arena

Install Instructions:
This is not a new map, it is actually a deathmatch conversion of the original mp_motel. I would strongly suggest that you delete any previous version of mp_motel before installing this one. As usual, the mp_motel.pk3 goes into the "Main" folder located where ever you installed RTCW.

Description:
This map is a cheap copy of maps like toy_soldiers and kungfugrip, where the player is nearly "pint-sized". Its a small map, that can safely support 8 vs 8 without have people spawn on top of each other.
The map includes some "teleporters" and jump pads. I could let you discover all these neat features, but I'll list them anyways.
The only jump pad is the Enigma machine on the floor between the two beds. It will launch you straight up into the air, and you can float down to either of the beds. I strongly suggest that you do not try to land elsewhere.
The heat vents on the floor can be destroyed, and jumping into the vents will teleport you to some random location. Be warned though, sometimes you may end up teleporting to the same location twice, even three times, but after a while, you will end up someone new.
You will notice that at some points, you are quite a ways above the ground. There are only a few select locations upon which you can land without dying. The bed, the pillows *see below*, and open books, the top of the boots, the easychair *see below* and the toilet paper in the bathroom. Also, from one of the ceiling air ducts, it looks like you could almost land on the easychair. You can try, but most likely you will miss and die. Instead, try to "grab onto" the closest window curtain on your way down :P

Bugs:
Not really a bug, but this map was compiled at "full bright" and so there are no shadows or other nice lighting effects. The reason for this is I'm a noob mapper who's too lazy to spend the time to get the lighting just right. It's also the last map I plan to make, so what the heck.
Be carefull when you land on the pillows or easychair from high above. It seems that if you land on the "angled" parts of the pillow, or any angles sides of the easychair, you WILL be killed, even though both these objects are covered with a "cushion" texture. Your safest bet is to land on the horizontally flat sections of the pillow and the easychair.
Another bug is there are no "location messages" in the top right-hand corner of your screen. You might expect to see the game display that you are near the table, or the desk, or the bed, etc, but you won't. I intentionally left these out because I'm lazy, and if you intend to play the map as an "every-man for themself" situation, it would make hunting down your "teammates" considerably a lot harder since you won't be able to see where they all were.

If you have any comments or complaints, forget about it. I don't plan to fix this map any more. On second thought, if you did like this map, I'd like to know. Other than that, don't send me emails asking about adding objectives, lighting, expansion, etc.

There are no comments yet. Be the first!
