The Ghost, for the excellent UI mod. :D Dolphin_Girl - for supporting me and Fritz from the beginning, and for loving RtCW almost as much as I do. :) The Bots United Crew for taking a chance on Fritz and giving him a place to call home. :) Known User Problems : 1. User attempts to play this mod using older versions of RTCW MP (Needs 1.41!!). 2. Build Time : On and off for a year now. Fritz was officially born on May of 2003. * Install Instructions * 1). If you have an older version of fritz bot - delete the entire directory now. 2). Extract the contents of this folder into your RTCW root dir. Make sure you keep directory structure! * How To Play * There are several ways to start up a Fritzbot game. ========= Method #1 : ========= 1). Create a shortcut pointing to the RTCW MP .exe file and mod info. An example shortcut: "WolfMP.exe +set fs_game fritzbot +set g_gametype 7 +map mp_destruction" 2). If the map you chose has a <mapname>_bots.cfg file, the game will automatically spawn in bots for you, and you can begin play right away! 3). An alternative way to add bots would be: a). drop the console down and type "exec bots" -OR- b). use "addbot" to add the bots of your choice 4). Enjoy! ========= Method #2 : ========= 1). Start up your normal RTCW MP game. 2). Go to the "Optons" / "Mods" menu and select "Fritzbot". 3). Click on the "Fritzbot" button, then the "Play Fritzbot" one. 4). Setup your server to your liking, then start the game by pressing "accept". 5). If the map you chose has a <mapname>_bots.cfg file, the game will automatically spawn in bots for you, and you can begin play right away! 6). An alternative way to add bots would be: a). drop the console down and type "exec bots" -OR- b). use "addbot" to add the bots of your choice 7). Enjoy! * Other Info * PLEASE be aware this is APLHA state software (FYI: ALPHA comes BEFORE BETA), so this is very buggy and limited yet. Don't expect the world of Fritz, or write it off just because of its weaknesses - this is just a VERY early test, showing the community where I'm at ATM with his progress. AND this has been provided to you, the end user, for free - at the cost of a LOT of my free time. ;) * Summary of Commands * The following commands are executed by typing them at the console. addbot <name> <skill> - Adds the bot with <name> set to <skill> bot_skill <value> - A value between 1 and 3 (1 = EASY, 3 = HARD) if no skill value is set when you call "addbot", bot_skill will determine their skill. Defaults to 2. kick allbots - Kicks all the bots off the server. bot_pause <value> - A value of 1 allows you to pause the bots. Useful for taking screenshots, or just testing things. Default value is 0. cg_mal_DrawTimer - Draws the reinforce timer at the top left of your screen. A value of 0 turns this feature off. * Making a route file * This is not available at this time. Frit'z pathing structure is being constantly revised, so for now you can only use the paths included in this archive. * Making a .bot file * Fritz bot works on the idea of bot "personalities". Much like a human that always uses the same name/class/weapon on a public/clan server, you can create bot personalities that have a preference for a particular class, weapon, or team. There are many bot "personalities" included in this release of Fritz bot (with more to come). Take a look at the .bot files and the file "botinfo.txt" for more information on how to create a bot modeled after yourself and/or your friends! NOTE: only the name, class, team, weapon values are currently working for this release. * Making map specific config file(s) * It is possible to make 2 kinds of map specific files for every map you have. The first will just be the name of the map (i.e. MP_DESTRUCTION.CFG). In this file you can set your various gameplay variables (like the timelimit, etc). The second is a config file just for bots, it also has the maps name, but has "_bots" at the end of the map name (i.e. MP_DESTRUCTION_BOTS.CFG). This controls the bots loadout, and skill - if you wish. Edit this file to your liking. At this time, there is no ingame menu to add bots - its on the TODO list tho! ;) * Version Info * v0.4 (Feb 14, 2005) - Objective support added! v0.3 (Sept 22, 2004) - Bot framework completely redone! v0.1 (June 30, 2004) - Initial release!
