Training map for Wolfenstein : dzm_trickjump - are you in control? ==================================================== Version : 1.01 Date : 20 Oct 02 Site : http://dzm.shrimpwars.be (Living Wolf section) Download: http://dzm.shrimpwars.be/files/dzm_trickjump.zip Contact : #dzm - Quakenet / DZM forum By : [DZM]GoldDragon Installation: 3 files are included in 'dzm_trickjump.zip' : 'dzm_trickjump.pk3' and two textfiles. Extract 'dzm_trickjump.pk3' to you RTCW main folder. And start up RTCW. Choose 'multiplayer' -> 'create server' and select '[DZM]Trickjump' in the map list. Click on 'accept', after which Wolf will launch the map. (Note: although technically this map is a multiplayer map, it has only been tested as a singleplayer map) Introduction: RTCW is a very varied game. It requires many different skills to become good at, with teamwork, aim and tactics being the most important. But there is one more aspect of RTCW that is often overlooked: the physics. There is more to Wolf-movement than just running, ducking and jumping. Using special techniques one can exploit the inconsistencies of the Quake3 engine, effectively jumping higher, further and moving faster. And that is what this map is for. It's a training map you can practice on, to become a more complete Wolfplayer. To teach you how to be in control of yourself. True warriors have got to know their own potential (and limits) first, before taking on the opponent. Of course, RTCW ain't martial arts, but I think you get the point. To help you in your quest to beat 'dzm_trickjump', I will also try to publish some guides covering the various parts of the map, which will be published the coming weeks on our site. The map: Goal of the map is to travel a road filled with obstacles, to find the War Documents and transmit them back to the base. Somewhere on this map there is also a Secret Area to be found, where you can test your strafe jumping abilities. Can you jump as far as 24 dzm, my own record? :) (Note: although technically this map is a multiplayer map, it has only been tested as a singleplayer map) Contact: If you have questions or comments regarding the map, you can always contact me on #dzm @ Quakenet, or leave a message behind on the DZM forum @ http://dzm.shrimpwars.be Good luck and happy strafing :p
