I think it was at Sonic Hacking Content a few years back when the now infamous Sonic The Really Useful Engine mod / romhack was revealed to the world, and the meme of Thomas The Tank Engine appearing on everything from badniks to Sonic himself, not to mention The Fat Controller swinging Miley Cirus around on a wrecking ball, took the internet by storm....
Well Thomas has shown up a few times since then, as has other meme favourites such as Shrek, in everything from Skyrim to, now, Sekiro: Shadow's Die Twice.
There's something pretty funny about the juxtaposition of a super serious game like Sekiro suddenly having an anthropomorphic blue tank locomotive appear out of nowhere, frankly.
Thomas The Snake Engine replaces the Great Serpent boss, his presence signalled by his ominous whistle far off in the distance, followed by the most surreal experience you've ever seen outside of the Thomas mod for Skyrim.
Shrek has also joined the party, though, with another similar mod that appropriately swaps him out for the chained ogre mini-boss. Of course, wherever Shrek is to be found, Smashmouth's Allstar is not too far behind, as the video below shows.
These are perhaps two mods we won't be seeing in James' Sekiro Playthrough over on our YouTube Channel, but if you want to check them out for yourself, you can grab the Thomas mod here, and the Shrek mod over here.
