Yet another Soldier of Fortune 2 preview and this time it's on UGO.com!
After superb showings with Star Trek: Elite Force and the recently released, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, Raven Software has been in the forefront of FPS gamers' minds. They are now nearing release of their next work, Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix, to swarms of hungry fans. The game begins with a classy flashback where we see our hero, John Mullins, sans trademark mustache, helping to free a defecting Scientist. The rest of the game, though, occurs slightly later than present day (late 2002). From the start, Soldier of Fortune 2 begins to feel somewhat different from its predecessor. The pacing is a bit slower, as John cannot run nearly as fast as in the first game (age will do that to you). In fact, the developers have said that they wished to keep more true to with this game. That's not to say there are one-shot deaths like in recent shooters, but now aim is no longer perfect, as you can't hold the trigger of an automatic weapon and expect all the bullets to go in the right place. Also, the mega ray gun of the original is dropped for an arsenal of more accurate weapons. Every weapon in the game exists in real life today. When the game is released, there will be a total of 14 real world weapons including silenced pistols, assault rifles with grenade launching capability and the ever-popular sniper rifle.
If you wanna read the full preview, please check this link...
