Assassination is a new gametype, based on a rather old idea - protect and escort a VIP to safety without them being eliminated. This is similar to the Counter Strike gametype, although the VIP can select their outfitting. Each round a player from the Red team is chosen to be the VIP, and they must stay alive at all costs. If the Blue team eliminates the VIP before they reach the Extraciton Zone (EZ), or the VIP doesn't get to the EZ in time, then this will result in mission failure for Red. ENJOY :)

Assassination uses the Extraction Zone (EZ) and spawn points from Infiltration, so you can play it on almost every INF map. Scoring: VIP Escapes: 2 points for Red VIP Escapee: 10 points for VIP VIP Assassinated: 1 point for Blue VIP Assassin: 5 points for Assassin Blue Eliminated: 1 point for Red Blue Eliminated and VIP Assassinated at same time: 1 point each Hopefully this will be the first of a series of "assassination" style games, with the possibility of a gamepack containng a few variants of Assassination just for SOF2. Before anyone asks... no I don't play counter Strike. This gametype was originally going to be called 'Armed Escort'. It was later named Assassination since that name was much cooler... and yes the two games are similar. BTW, I am aware the word "ass" for a gametype is amusing to some people. :) ============================================================ * Design Notes * As stated above, this gametype uses Inflitration spawn points and maps that are compatible with Infiltration. You do not need to change or add anything to your own custom maps to support Assassination as long as they can do INF (assuming you have proper Infiltration spawnpoints and an extraction zone). There may be a couple of maps that Assassination will not work with, these are the Inf levels where the Blue team are defending the case, as opposed to the Red team. All of the standard Raven Inf maps have been tested and work, although a couple may not challening to play on, i.e mp_hk1 and mp_kam5. I think you can also make spawn points with the name "ass" on a map and players should spawn in at those points in an Assassination game. Why? Because Red team would instantly win. All standard Inf maps in SOF2 will work. If you are playing Assassination on a custom Inf map, you will not get a picture of the extraction zone up on the briefing screen. To do this you will need to make a diretory in your base directory called "gfx\menus\levelshots". Then copy the original extraction photo for the custom level, i.e. "mp_shop_inf_extraction" then rename it to "mp_shop_ass_extraction" and add it to this folder. If you don't have an original extraction photo for that level then make your own, or you can leave the map without one. It is important that you keep the directory structure intact; otherwise the mod will not work. In WinZip, make sure the box "Use folder names" is ticked. Similar programs should also have this feature. On most machines your SOF2 directory should be located at: 'C:\Program Files\Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix\. This assumes that the game is install on C drive, if your game is installed on another drive, such as D drive, then it would most likely be 'D:\Program Files\Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix'. You should now have the file 'gt_ass.pk3' in your SOF2\base\ directory.
