File Description

This mod gives you some more crosshairs for you to try out and test your skill in game, this is what the author has to say:

Well, my first crosshair set I've sent in. I've also got another scope I've submitted previously, which you can find with my SIG551 'Stinger' and SIG551 Ground Zero skins.

The first scope has no fade in along the outside rim, and is completely black for realism. The section around the oblong-rectangle is slighty transparent, and allows for a wide range of vision. The center is fully clear, just so you can see your enemies a bit better. The red centerand white inner reticles means that you can snipe in the dark, although it's not reccomended when you're using this crosshair.

The second scope has a slightly smaller range of vision. It's also a transparent red, with a red pin-point center which is easier to see than the first scope. I found this one good for any map, and excellent in the dark. It's based on the sniper scope from Red Faction, if not with a few tweaks to it.

Each of the crosshairs, obviously, is good for different situations. You might find it easier to pick one that's best for you if you read this section.

Viewing from the left, the first crosshair I can only describe as being good for 'mowing down' enemies. It's good for some of the more awkward weapons like the M3A1. One thing that's very crucial to remember is that the where the reticles cross is NOT the target center. The actual center is right at the tip of the vertical reticle. This forces your eye to think that the intersect is the middle. By aiming for the torso of the target, you should find it a bit easier to get headshots. Unlike the other 3, this one isn't semi-transparent.

The second crosshair is based on one from the first-person shooter game Chaser. It's quite an interesting game, I highly reccomend it. There's nothing special about this crosshair, since I only made it after I got addicted to Chaser, and found it easier to frag in SoF2 if I used a similar crosshair.

The third is the best all-round crosshair in this set. It was an edited version of another crosshair, I think. If you can find the original author please email me so I can add him/her in the credits. This particular one had some people who had seen it in some screenshots of my skins email me asking for it, so I thought I would include it. It's a bit different from the ones I sent them, which wasn't semi-transparent. This crosshair is excellent for nearly every weapon, and for either close, medium or long range. It's very handy when you're armed with an AK74 and runs into an M590 wielding enemy around the corner, since even rifles will be very efficient at close range with this.

Finally, the last crosshair is based on the Unreal Tournament crosshair. It's quite accurate, and great for when range happens to be your advantage factor. It's useless in close range, however.

Phew, and I'm all done. =P Hope you enjoy these, and happy fragging.

:.

Completion : About 40 minutes for the first scope and 15 minutes for the second scope. The crosshairs were an ongoing project I've been experimenting with since last year.
Programs : Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1
Compiler : WinRAR archiver, for compiling into a .zip then .pk3 file

-------------------------------------------------------------

:. Installation

Extract the contents that you want to use into your base/mp directory. To uninstall, remove the extracted files. Make sure that you have no other custom scopes or crosshairs installed.

-------------------------------------------------------------

:. Credits

The second scope is based on the sniper scope from THQ's Red Faction. The second crosshair (from the left) shown is based on JoWood's game titled Chaser. The last crosshair is based on Unreal Tournament's crosshair.
