This program extracts data from the log-file and outputs player names, GUIDs, and IP addresses to a text file. This is helpful for server admins to know who's who in their banlist (matching GUIDs or IPs with a name).
This External version selects the log file and then create the GUID file. Then saves it in the directory that the program is in and then launch your banlist) This is all done without the user seeing any windows. Version 1.0.1: Logfile is no longer required to be sof2games.log and to be in the same directory as this program. Now you specify the location in location.txt. I find this version very useful because I have a Start/Stop capability on my server, so I can have a link to run this program elsewhere, saving me the need to copy down the log file.
Version 1.0.1 This program extracts data from the log-file and outputs player names, GUIDs, and IP addresses to a text file. This is helpful for server admins to know who's who in their banlist (matching GUIDs or IPs with a name). To Install simply place GUIDGrabber(External).exe into the folder where you logfile (sof2games.log) is. When you launch the GUID file will be created. You must also place the included .dlls in and .tlb in the Windows/System32 directory. For this to work you must open location.txt and replace what I have (C:\Games\SOFII\osp\sof2games.log) with the location of your file (no quote marks, and don't delete (Location: ) or it won't work. This version of the GUID Grabber is handy if you have a Start/Stop page or something for your hosted game server, and you can get a link set up for this program. If you would prefer to just copy the log file to your PC, then run the local version of GUID Grabber, you can select the file name of your .log file.
