mp_sparta.zip —
A map with the Sparta theme. I liked the idea and the author did a good job on the map. Seems to be a little dark at some places, but still a very good map. Go try it for yourself!

I decided to create it due to the fact that the setting, ancient Greece, hasn´t been much covered yet. Two basically identical temples, though one the ugly face of the other, the beautiful one, two twins, good and evil ... Created this map using GtkRadiant 1.4.0, the flag skins were done with Photoshop 7.0. By the way, the music is part of the original SoF 2-soundtrack! Don´t be afraid of the two ghost voices in the catacombs, they won´t harm you. And don´t get too close to the fire and the waterfall ;-) . The citizens of Sparta (950 - 192 B.C.) in the south of ancient Greece were well known for their military power. At the age of seven, the boys were put in camps to learn sword and spear fighting as well as the tactics of warfare. All Sparta was aiming at was having a strong, well equipped army that made it valuable to its allies and frightening to its enemies. Under Xerxes the Persians invaded Greece. In August 480 B.C. they attacked the Greeks at the narrow pass at Thermopylae. The Greek army, consisting of some 7000 men, was led by 300 Spartans and faced the Persian forces of perhaps some forty times its size. After two days, a traitor led the Persians around the pass behind the Greek lines. The Spartan general Leonidas fought to the death. On the spot, a marble lion was set by the Greeks in honour of Leonidas and his men, together with two other monuments nearby. On one of them, the memorable words were written: "Oh stranger tell the Lacedaemonians, that we lie here, obedient to their laws". ====================================================================== This readme file was generated at MODSonline.com Visit MODSonline.com for custom game content: Downloads, Projects, Forums, Tutorials, Videos, Reviews, News, etc. http://www.modsonline.com/ May 29, 2005
