The guys over at IGN have recently been given an update on the progress of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, specifically the squad and faction dynamics.
GSC Game World's STALKER Clear Sky is putting more of emphasis on a dynamic world than the original, which should make wandering around the Zone's irradiated wastes a little more interesting this time around. In case you're totally unfamiliar with this one: Clear Sky isn't actually a sequel. It's a prequel, and its narrative's end is being designed to hook directly into the beginning of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl.
While we've seen the game a few times already, GSC gave us a little more detail on how squads of faction members will operate and fight autonomously. This time around you'll actually get a faction meter, viewable through a tab in a retooled map HUD, that fluctuates based on which faction's presence is stronger in whatever zone you're walking through. One of the new areas in Clear Sky is a marshlands section, a sprawling expanse of land populated by the Clear Sky and a competing Renegade faction. It's up to you which to do missions for to take over new territory.
