See screenshots and readme below for details, but what this does is:
ADDS names of all functional points to the map of Dark Valley shown in the PDA.
Works fine, and there is only one file you need to use.. Rest of info in readme, I'll just point here to the original thread containing idea about this mod, and which will be updated with future versions and maps as well: http://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr2&thm_page=1&thm_id=18415&page=2&sec_id=22
First part was map of Garbage which can be found here: http://stalker.filefront.com/file/PDA_map_with_point_names_Garbage;94726
I have also made Agroprom map here: http://stalker.filefront.com/file/PDA_map_with_point_names_Agroprom;94736
Mod name: PDA map with point names - Dark Valley v1.0 Author: Lux aka LuxZg Version: 1.0 Date: 11.10.2008. STALKER CS: 184.108.40.206 Description/Changelog: --v1.0-- This mod adds names of points to the Dark Valley map in your PDA, as they are shown when you get quests. Points included in this map are all those that are valid smart_terrain points for use in current game (1.5.05) This is work in progress, and goal is to have all levels mapped like this. Preview: This is how the map looks.. raw texture (converted to JPEG) - http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh302/LuxZg/map_darkvalley.jpg Overview on whole Dark Valley map in the in-game PDA - http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh302/LuxZg/dark_valley_map_zoomed_out.jpg Zoomed in northern part of map (it gets a bit blurry ingame, probably because texture is originaly smaller than others, and gets stretched too much :( I don't think it's something I did.. ) - http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh302/LuxZg/dark_valley_map_zoomed_in.jpg Minimap shows the markings as well (and you see I'm at the correct spot) - http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh302/LuxZg/minimap_dark_valley.jpg Someone asked how it looks when zoomed out completely, where here is a screenshot with current maps (Agroprom+Garbage+Dark Valley) in PDA together - http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh302/LuxZg/3_maps_together_zoomed_out.jpg Tested: Tested in 1.5.05, works fine, and no problems at all. Only thing is that it's a bit blurry when zoomed in completely, and quest icons are mismatched by about 2 in-game meters (few steps). Since it's nothing major, I'm posting it untill someone makes a suggestion how to solve the blur thingie.. Future of this mod: This is probably final Dark Valley map for the time being, and will probably not change anymore, unless someone solves me blur-thing or if the game devs make more smart_terrains in future patches. Next will be other level's maps, first I have to fix Garbage map so it's as correct as this one, and than I'm going to do Yantar, Cordon and Swamps as well. Initial WIP thread (will contain updates and discussion about all future related map mods): http://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr2&thm_page=1&thm_id=18415&page=2&sec_id=22 Similar projects: There is already map of Swamps as well, made by Lobstris! Check it out here! http://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr2&thm_page=1&thm_id=18441&sec_id=21 Styles are different, but idea is the same. So I recommend it completely! At least untill I make my own ;) Credits: Lobstris - for telling me how to use Gimp+DDS plugin - it worked without problems, thanks ;) Blackheim - for telling me where I can find all smart terrain names (configstextengst_smart_terrain_names.xml) jamie1992 and A Lone Hobo - for helping me extract more data from all.spawn files which speeded up development of maps a lot, and made them 100% accurate! me - ofcourse, for making this map INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS (by an unknown Stalker - but thank you anyway!) -----INSTALL------------------------------------------ Simply put the gamedata to your Stalker CS directory And change the line in fsgame file from: $game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata to: $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata ------------------------------------------------------ Enjoy! P.S. If you do use this in your mods, give credit to me and the rest of the people involved in making of this mod (see my Credits section)! Thanks :)
