This is the starship Valhalla - a reinforced, armoured and meaner looking Norway variant. The textures, like the author's other ship (the Ballista) are very nice, and the added glows are impressive. This ship is relatively balanced (it won't take a cube down but it will survive a good beating). If you enjoyed playing with the Ballista and liked the design then the Valhalla is for you. Unfortunately it will overwrite the Norway (so backup the original if you want to go return to using the stock ship). It is part of an Anti-Borg Fleet, (I hope we get to see a full mod pack of these vessels in one in the future) but for the meantime I guess we have to make do with the one vessel at a time. :borg:
A cool addition to the Fleet. It certainly is a combat-orientated vessel and worthy of the name Valhalla..
PS: I wonder would it survive the Ragnorak? :donut:
________________________________ (ABF) Valhalla Class __________________________________________ __________________________ Armoured Norway Refit ____________________________________ - Sarah Clancy - - Contents - 1.0 The Valhalla Class 1.1 About this Mod 1.2 Specific Modifications 1.3 Installation 1.4 Credits 1.5 Legal 1.6 Permissions/Contact 1.7 Conclusion 1.0 - The Valhalla Class Code named the Valhalla Class Refit this vessel is refitted for one purpose of combating the renewed Borg threat. This is part of the newly redesigned Next Generation Anti-Borg Fleet , the "ABF". The main refit of these vessels is a brand new and highly experimental Hull composition designed to eliminate sensor shadowing and is a testing bed for anti-tractor beam armour technology. This composition is known as PAM Armour (an abbreviation of it's composites - Parametallic, Ablative and Monotanium Armour) Armour enhancements include integrated armour technology made of Ablative armor and Parametallic hull plating reinforced with Monotanium micro-plates in the armoured hull joints. The tri-alloy armour has the unfortunate effect of slowing the speed of the vessel it's delpoyed upon. Also due to the restrictions on power required to run the Ablative Armour generators, the shield matrix of the ship operates at 70% the normal shield output of a normal (ship of this class), however a new deflector dish that feeds directly from the Bussard Collectors has remedied that problem with the shield output now operating at 136.6% (1500 level points) of a normal Norway (1100 level points). Due to the armour the Hull specification points (hull Level) is 2500 (1100 originally). The Weapons Level has been upgraded to a level of 2900 from 1000 to complement the armour (the layout of the Norway allowed for extra Reticule generators to be added to increase the firepower. The sensor level has been reduced as the added armour requires extra power for the ablative armour generators on the hull bringing the sensor profile down from 1250 to 700. The engines have also been greatly affected. After the refit the engine level went from 1220 down to 400 (the added armour on the nacelles reduced speed too much) making the Valhalla practically immobile for the close quarter combat it was designed for. Starfleet installed an extra set of experimental impulse engines known as Pulse-Boosters on the ship on the port and starboard dorsal sides of the hull (Check screenshots to see these engines). These Pulse-Booster Engines work by giving the main impulse engines a short burst of impulse every time the vessel reaches 3/4 impulse by using power from the deflector dish. The added boost makes the vessel more difficult for helmsmen to manouevre correctly although it is far easier to pilot than the Ballista Class. These new engines managed to bring the Valhalla's engines to 1090. The Shield level has been greatly enhanced by using extra power from the new deflector dish, routing power through the ablative armour generators to the shield generators bringing the shields from a 1100 level to a 1500 level. The Nacelles are completely armoured. Like the Ballista, the Valhalla is designed for close quarter combat but is much more effective with it's superior engine and weapon strength. 1.1 - About this Mod This is my second mod. Doing this was tougher work than the Ballista so I hope you appreciate this ship. I will in the future release more vessels of the ABF. I have an Akira, Defiant, Intrepid and a Nebula being refitted at the moment so fingers crossed I get completed. Personally I don't like this that much, I think I screwed up the main hull textures which is why I believe the Ballista is much better.. but I need to move onward and get the rest done so here is the finished product 1.2 - Specific Modifications I have totally rehashed the textures leaving none of the original Norway hull or engine textures. I have added brand new textures using real life detailed metallic textures to give the effect of heavy armour on the hull. I also changed the original specular glows to adequately suit the textures that I have imposed on the vessel. The new specular glows include - The Nacelle glows are gone. I wanted to show the Nacelles covered in heavy armour. The Bussards are moved to another area of the ship (the junction between the Primary and Secondary hulls). The bussards are also orange and a brand new spec is added to suit it to Legacy standards. There is a new hull texture at the port and starboard sides of the ship (so called "Pulse-Boosters) and a blue spec to complement it.:) I left the impulse engines red because I liked them. I added 3 seperate blue glows on the top of the secondary hull. I have modified the Ships stats in the odf to accordingly match the ship's spec (as stated in section 1.0 of this readme). I've tried to make the ship as balanced as possible. I also changed the Logo to be totally black..gives the impression of an embossed registry in the dark hull textures 1.3 - Installation Again here are the three small steps .odf to odf\ships .m3d to m3d .dds to textures\dds MAKE SURE YOU DELETE OR RENAME THE db.pak FILE FOR THIS MOD TO WORK That should do it :) 1.4 - Credits Model by : MadDoc/Bethesda Original ODF by : MadDoc/Bethesda Textures: Modified by me Specs: Modified by me 1.5 - Legal This material is not created or supported by teh developers, Bethesda or MadDoc.
