Sitep! We've got a new contact on Dradis...it's the Valkyrie!

Yes Kophjaeger introduces the Battlestar Valkyrie to Legacy, a brand new model playable with the Alliance Mod as it uses the weapons for that mod. The Valkyrie plays as one of eight battlestars, complete with logos.

  • Valkyrie was a Colonial battlestar, belonging to Battlestar Group 41, under the command of William Adama before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. The ship's class is not known. Approximately six years before the Cylon attack, Valkyrie had been ordered by Admiral Peter Corman to deploy a stealth recon ship over the Armistice Line to test Cylon resolve and gather intelligence on Cylon activities. The eventual fate of Valkyrie is not known, but she is presumed to have been destroyed along with the rest of the Colonial Fleet (except Galactica and Pegasus) during the Cylon assault on the Twelve Colonies.

This is a decent model that plays well.. The ship looks good in game, the textures are good but maybe a retexture would be a good thing for a future version. So say we all!

Background: William Adama’s first command of a front line battlestar was the Valkyrie. Battlestar Group 41 was deployed close to the Cylon border frequently. Small ships of this class are known for their versatility, speed, and ranged ship to ship missiles.

With the Valhalla class, enjoy escorting your foes to the afterlife as one of 8 ships.




Requirements: I like stock, but this one requires Alliance Beta (only because it uses the pulse weapons).





Installation: Simple, and comprehensive

Put all .dds files in your textures/dds folder
Put .m3d file in your m3d folder
Put BSG_Valkyrie into odf/ships
Put the remaining .odf files in odf/photons

Again, if you are interested in how the model was put together, the ms3d file is included. This was actually my first model built, so it is not perfectly symmetrical. You will not notice during gameplay though.




****This ship requires you to modify your weapons.spr in your sprites folder. This isnt hard. If you don't wish to do so, just replace the weapons in the BSG_Valkyrie.odf to something from a stock ship.

Credits: Again, thanks to TipTop. These ships would not be near as cool flying sideways. Someday I will produce my own bumpmaps.

This ship was inspired by the Alliance Mod by Raziel. It does his weapons therein.

Again, weapons are free game to all to use with no credit given.
