And as promised here is tiptop's first TLE (The lost Era) ship: The Colossus class cruiser

In 2302 most of the Constitution refit class ships were being withdrawn from service. There wasn't enough Excelsior class starships to fill that hole in the line. Starfleet Command once again decided to modify some of the remaining Connies and leave them in service as light cruisers. They also needed a new "diplomatic cruiser" that could replace the aging Constitution class in more peaceful missions where more expensive Excelsiors were not needed. Within a Year Utopia Planitia engineers designed and constructed Colossus class medium cruiser. The ship received warp core from the Excelsior class and Constitution class warp nacelles. Using those engines the Colossus was slightly faster than Connie refit and could longer maintain top speed. The ship was equipped with deflector even more powerful than the Excelsior Refit class. Colossus received new type of phaser banks and four standard photon tubes ( 2F/2A ) with 200 rounds. When much grater numbers of the Excelsior class vessels were available, Starfleet Command decided to stop the production of Colossus class ships after building only twelve of them. The prototype and three other vessels were mothballed in 2353. The other ships were lost during the conflict with Cardassians.

There are many reasons for downloading this. First of all it's stock compatibly, which means that anyone who has the game will be able to use it. Furthermore it's a ship that's been modelled by tiptop, one of the best modellers in the community. The quality of both model and texture is - as usual - excellent and may cause difficulties for some older generation computers - unfortunately. Another reason is that this is one of a few ships from the TLE era and I don't think anyone else created this as an game model before. The ship handles well in-game it's just a little weak, but remember it's a TLE ship, which means that it's supposed to be weak compared to the (late) TNG ships.
