Constitution Class Yamato Subtype

Description

With many new Excelsior class starships, few Quasars and Colossus class in service, Starfleet could finally retire most of the Constitution class starships. Some of them were once more refitted to the Mk2 standard but most of them were mothballed. Four ships were chosen for an another major refit. Since Utopia Planitia shipyards were unable to do the work, Starfleet asked Andorian shipyards to do the job. Those ships were called Yamato subtype (that was the name of the prototype). Saucer section and secondary hull were rebuilt to make space for new impulse engines and a new deflector dish. Completely new nacelles were installed on modified pylons. The type received new torpedo launchers (two forward and one aft firing tube) and the same phasers as Colossus or the new Excelsior class Mk2. During the tests Yamato proved to be stronger, faster and more agile than standard Connie Mk21 but because all the new equipment was much bigger and heavier some of the scientific equipment had to be removed. In 2312 after the tests, Starfleet Command decided to finish three other ships that were already in shipyard. Also a decision was made that in case of war, other mothballed Constitution class ships were rebuild to the same standard. USS Yamato and USS Republic were retired from service in 2345. USS Legacy was destroyed by Cardassian warship in 2351. The last ship, USS Bethesda was retired in 2366, but she was rushed back into service to fight against the Borg at Wolf 359. Bethesda was destroyed and no crew member survived.

Shortly after tiptop's last Contest Entry here is his second ship and again it is a TLE era ship with an interesting background story. Basically this is a Constitution with the above mentioned changes such as the new Impulse drive and the new nacelles. The design is (in my opinion) a logical and good looking design that evolved out of the TMP Constitution. There is not much to say about the quality of the ship...it's been done by tiptop, guys :D.

Just unpack the archive to Your Legacy folder.
If You're using some of my other TLE mods like the TLE Refit Pack or the Colossus class , some files may be overwriten but that won't make You any problems.
