Legacy, Shaders 3.0



This is the 2nd beta version of my Shaders mod.

Because of some issues that cropped up with the first beta, it was important to keep the Shader Model 1.1 calls on some of the base render passes and fallback levels.

Visual quality still seems to be as good as in the first beta(minus the bugs) but if you see anything indicating a loss of visual quality anywhere, then do not hesitate to report it. ;)


Here is alexraptors second beta on the Legacy Shaders 3.0. Alexraptor has smoothed out the bugs experienced in the first shaders pack, the graphical difference (on my computer at least) is, while subtle, definatly noticeable, making the gameplay that much more exciting to look at.

Installation instructions are as always clear, but do make sure you have a 3.0 shaders compliant graphics card for this, or you will as alex says, "experience serious problems".

Thanks to alex for improving on something that is already good for legacy.

This is a set of modified shader files that add shaders 3.0 support to Legacy, for those who want to squeeze a little extra out of Legacy's graphics.
Due to possible performance loss these shaders are recommended for use with GeForce 7 and equivalent ATI cards or higher.

Since so many different shader commands interact I have for the time being just replaced all Pixel and Vertex shader calls with Shaders 3.0 and therefore this version is to be considered a Beta. Because of this it is imperative that your graphics card be shader model 3.0 compliant or else you may experience serious problems.

A backup of the original shaders folder is recommended as shader modifications are NOT multiplayer compatible(unless the other player is using the same set of shaders).

Changes in Beta 2:
Transwarp Conduit fix included.
Re-did and cleaned up the Shader Model calls.
Resolved a shadow bug.

Known bugs:
None that I am aware of.

Simply unzip the contents of the zip file into your legacy folder, overwrite when prompted. Then proceed to delete ALL ".fxo" files in the shaders folder.
