This simple but effective addon renders the HUD Display invisible. This is effective for better screenshots and clear view of the battlefield. The functions of this mod are stated below.
Key actions that are still enabled:
- Change ships/select all ships - Access repair panels - Access energy distrubution panels - Visible throttle
Actions that are disabled:
- the reticule - the fleet status corner (this doesn't help if your fleet are getting a pasting - weapons status corner - pretty much everything else from the hud
LIMITEDHUD README: This is not a great piece of coding, but as far as I can tell it is working. The goal is simple: retain the core control functions of Legacy-but ditch (almost) the entire HUD so screenshots look good, and the focus is all action. By changing several parts of the ui xml files, the hud is simply hidden-it's still there and you can interact with it, but you will never see it (unless you ask for it). Key actions that are retained: - Change ships/select all ships - Access repair panels - Access energy distrubution panels - Visible throttle Things that were tossed out: - the reticule - the fleet status corner (bad for if ships are getting banged up, but some sacrifices must be made) - weapons status corner - pretty much everything else from the hud I have not had a change to test this on any other install but mine, but as far as I can tell,it's pretty stable. Most noteably, I don't have a controller (yet) so I don't know if this will work with the various controllers out there. The keyboard commands for repair/fleet select/energy distrib all work. Multiplayer has never worked for me either, so I couldn't tell you if it will break that. Since I only had to tinker with the xml files for the hud, I hope it wouldn't interefere. I would ask that if anyone chooses to use this simply give me credit if they choose to modify or incorporate it into a mod. I would also appreciate feedback from other people. To me, this is much more fun legacy experience in some ways. I've also included the original xml files should you want to go back to the original hud. Installation: copy the xml files into the Star Trek Legacy\ui\hud\ directory Bugs: None I am aware of... (Used on a clean install with v1.1 patch)
