File Description

This is the Romulan Nierrh Class

Starship Background :

The first (and only) attempt to share technology between the Federation, Klingon and Romulan governments was a short lived program that ended abrubtly with the outbreak of hostilities between the three powers invloved. This secret project, codenamed Thunderbolt by the Federation, encountered significant difficulties in integrating the various technologies of the three races, but did manage to demonstrate the similarities of various shipboard systems throughout the Quadrant. With the Shinzon incident the Federation backed out of the program, and without the Federation's "calming influence" on the Klingons they too withdrew from the project only a few months after the Federation. The Romulans proved unwilling to let the program die, and saw it through to completion with mostly Romulan technology. The resulting vessel was dubbed the Nierrh class, and while a capable ship, it is largely regarded as an unsuccessful design. The Klingons, with access to more unconventional means of weapons procurement, are rumored to have some of these vessels in their possesion for testing and training purposes.

This is a strange ship though to armada 2 fans it may seem familiar as it is quite similar in structural design to the Veles Class that appeared in Armada 2 in terms of its forward curving wings and protruding bridge head.

I'm not a big fan of this, it looks too rectangular. However in saying that I guess the Romulans don't really care once the ship will perform and this does perform in battle.

The textures which are in targa format can be off putting in the screenshots but the ship does look much better ingame.

Overall its a pretty decent ship
