This mod alters all naval units - that is to say, all ships and submarines, as well as the Tempest and Atlantis T4 units - to leave wreckage behind when destroyed. It was originally suggested in this thread by Recon. Bonomel and I developed independent prototypes (which were shamelessly appropriated by Legion Darrath), and since then I've been working on this new, improved version. Ships: - explode and sink using the original animations - leave wreckage behind when they hit the seafloor Submarines: - explode and sink when destroyed - leave a trail of bubbles and the occasional secondary explosion behind on the way to Davey Jones' Locker - leave wreckage behind when they hit the seafloor Atlantis & Tempest: - explode and sink using the original animations - leave wreckage behind eventually - see "known issues" Installation Put the TF_ShipWreckage.scd in your gamedata directory and enable it using the mod manager. Known Issues - Aeon frigates sometimes leave wreckage floating on the surface of the water when destroyed. This appears to be an issue with the death animation (UEF battleships had a similar issue that I was able to work around). I'm going to handwave this away as super-light nanocomposites. - The UEF Atlantis and Aeon Tempest sometimes leave wreckage below the seafloor, depending on how deep they are when destroyed and how deep the water is. If this happens, you'll still be able to reclaim it - the reclaim point will be on the surface above where they went down - you just won't be able to see the wreckage.
