One thing that I missed from Morrowind were the lanterns. Across Morrowind, you could equip and carry around like a real lantern, giving you light. When I got stronger and began using illumination and night-eye more, I still used them. You could drop your lanterns anywhere in the game, and they would give some lighting in that area. I found this very useful in some of my houses which were dimly lit.
This modder added seven different lanterns to the Chorrol Mages Guild, free for you to pick up and use. They come in different colors and effects. They illuminate much better than a torch and do not give out. And just like in Morrowind, you can drop them anywhere, and they'll illuminate the area.
Some issues the modder warns is that the lanterns may occasionally fall through tables, and a flickering from the light as the script updates the lighting of the lantern. This may also mean that if you are already have trouble with lighting in the game, this mod will make things worse, as it is a moving light source.
Install to Oblivion/Data folder. I missed the lanterns from morrowind, so I scripted some of my own. They (7 items) can be foundin Chorrol mages guild and are free for the taking. Known Bugs: lanterns occasionally fall thru tables. also will notice a "flicker" after moving so far while equipped, this is the script updating the light position to force surroundings to reflect properly. may cause a slight drop in framerate when having several on in the same room! Much thanks to Scruggsywuggsy the Ferret for the advice on scripting! Permission is granted to use any part of this mod as long as credit is given, but please drop me a line to let me know who's using what parts in what mod. please send feedback/bug reports to Gamluvr@gmail.com ENJOY!!! - Gamluvr p.s. try throwing one off the top of a mountain at night to watch the light tumble down! ;)
