This beautiful mod looks like it shot straight out of a CG Movie, it upgrades the default Oblivion lava textures to a much larger, much clearer 2048x2048 image.
Just take a look at the screen-shot! (You'll be getting what's in the lower right corner.)
This mod is a definite for people who want their games to look good! And it's certainly an addition to my game! No more red soup for me!

========= REAL LAVA ========= by CptJoker version: 1.3 date: 12 Oct 07 [1] What This Mod Does [2] Installation [3] Mod Log [4] Final Notes [1] - What This Mod Does ------------------------ Tired of looking at Bethesda's red soup lava? Need something with a bit of fire? This is a high-resolution (2048x2048) retexture of Oblivion lava (and only that!) and a tweak to its "water" properties. A year ago I made a texture from USGS volcanic research photographs, and have now overhauled it to bring it in line with the level of detail of texture packs like Qarl's (I'm using his version 2 at the moment.) I've also tried to simulate a more convincing flow by adjusting some settings. The result is something that I think looks rather HOT and MENACING! [2] Installaion --------------- Put "Real Lava 1.3.esp" and the accompanying Textures folder into your Oblivion\Data folder (nothing will get overwritten!) Enable the .esp and play! [3] Mod Log ----------- v1.3 Overhauled texture, now hires (2048x2048), .esp tweaks v1.2 Modified texture, minor .esp tweaks, readme tweaks v1.1 Totally new texture; further tweaks to the .esp v1.0 Initial release [4] Final Notes --------------- There are no conflicts with any mods. This is a simple one-object tweak and retexture. Overall I've gone for really HOT looking lava. I tried making more crusted, less intense lava but never found it to be as satisfying (nor as dangerous-looking!) as the stuff I have here: the effect just wasn't as convincing. This isn't some docile volcano in Hawaii, this is a nightmarish lava flow in Oblivion! Also I think the Visually Realistic Lava "heat shimmer" effect was okay, but I didn't find it very convincing so decided not to copy. :D Feel free to use my mod in any of you work, but do leave a little credit to the creator.
