NOTE: 1.5 was the final release of this mod made by me, newer versions coming from sources other than Dragon Captions are FAKES.

Requires = The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Requires = OBLIVION PATCH v1.2 and Shivering Isles Requires = Cyrodiil Upgrade Resource Pack http://hosted.filefront.com/giskarduk/2330218

Creator's = giskard Website = http://www.novazone.karoo.net

About The Necromancer

The Necromancer is a support mod that supports any Mages Guild Mod and any Necromancer mod by supplying additional background and lore. It also supports Kvatch Aftermath and Origin of Mages Guild directly and has features to expand upon the lore or features in both those mods. Some seldomly used Kvatch features for example (Under Croft Coffins) are a requirement for some bonus features of this mod and some the documentation available in this mod expand upon the Kvatch Aftermath Necromancer Guild plot line. If you do not have Kvatch Aftermath these books just add a little mystery to the game and play no further part.

The mod adds 6 unique NPC Necromancers to the game, all necromancers and all with their own story to tell. Each one was booted from the Mages Guild for practising Necromancy after Traven banned the practice. All where treated the same way regardless of what they were trying to do and this provides the Necromancer side of the “Traven Banning Necromancy” story.

By talking to them you will see the good and evil side of Necromancy and the Mages Guild and the border line psychotic types. In the process you may understand how may areas of study can be considered Necromancy and how Traven ignored all these facts in his drive to ban them from the guild.

This is not a lesson for players, just my way making sure you see both sides of the story so when you role play your Ultra good or ultra Evil characters, you do not automatically dismiss necromancy as evil and the mages guild as good.

This mod has very few quests and what quests exist are there to support the players long term game and let the player earn the NPCs trust. Only a couple are one shot quests, the rest will keep on working until you are bored with Oblivion. This answers the question “I have done the quests, what now?”. You can actually make a nice living tomb raiding in this mod.

These mod also adds lots of unique stuff including 4 new swords and a new staff that appear as loot in new Tombs or given as gifts as part of rewards for completing some minor quests.

Important Notice for those Updating from 1.4 or earlier.

If you decide to uninstall the older versions of The Necromancer (1.4 or earlier, it is not really nessessary that you do so), be sure to reinstall Slofs Robe Trader since it will remove some robes that mod needs. This will fix any issues that come up in regard to that mod. Also any issues related to The Elder Council and missing meshes after uninstalling The Necromancer can be fixed by updating to the newest version of The Elder Council.

The reason is that TEC and The Necromancer originally used a shared file system I called MRC, it has since been made redundant by the creation and usage of CURP in all my mods. CURP is a better, easier system with none of this messing around. But older mods still share the odd file so removing 1 mod can sometimes cause a missing mesh in another. This mostly effects TEC and The Necromancer. But in the event of problems, reinstall the latest versions of the mod with the issue. This should fix any problems.

Installation:

Just extract the zip into your Oblivion Folder (NOT THE OBLIVION DATA FOLDER).

If you're updating, say yes to any requests to overwrite files.
Make sure you also have the Cyrodiil Update Resource Pack installed because as of v1.5, this mod needs it.

Change Log

Version 1.1
Added the missing Friend Note to a script so all users who should have gotten it but did not, will get it.
(Watch out for Kvatch Aftermath 6.3 when its released, it will support this mod better than 6.2)

Version 1.2
Corrected some misleading information in the books.

Version 1.3
Fixed the fix that did not work for people who had also asked the Kalidic question as well as the friends question, now you will get the note that you should have got in version 1. Sorry about this. Got too many mods and voice actor jobs on the go right now.

Version 1.4
Fixed several custom greetings that were playing on all NPCs dispite the conditions limiting who can say them.
Fixed the "It's my pleasure. Please continue" greeting that was accidently marked as edited. It was not actually edited btw.

Version 1.5
Removed the MRC curtains
Removed the MRC skeletons
Removed Slofs Robes
Added CURP Curtains to the mod.
Added CURP Skeletons to the mod.
Added CURP's version of Slofs robes to the mod.
Reballanced the Necromancers in line with CUOs necromancers.
Added CURPS Necromancer Lich spells to the necromancers
Unleveled the Necromancers in line with CUO.
Made 1 Necromancer a Hero.
Gave all Necromancers the new CURP Necromancer Equipement.
Added support for the New Faction Dialog, specifically Necromancer and Necromancer Faction Dialog.
