Travel back through history once again in Filmmakers of Faith’s concluding portion of the “Pilate: A Story of Christ” series. Pilate’s reign in Judea has been marked with chaos and misfortune. But when a mysterious criminal is brought before him, will his decision forever change the course of history?
“Once again, the Pilate series examines the character of Pontius Pilate using a blend of biblical and historical sources. While this film contains a great deal more spirituality than the first, it is quite unavoidable considering the topic (and hopefully critics will rate based on film quality, not ‘whether or not they agree with it’). The death of Jesus, son of Joseph (Or Yeshua bar-Josef) revolutionized not only religion but politics, culture, and ultimately world history, and Pilate undoubtedly plays an intricate part in this.
“History tells us that his character, typically ruthless and condemning in his policy, contradicts his hesitant character at the trial of Christ. Yet there are any number of reasons why this change may have occurred. This film looks at one in particular: his love for his wife, Claudia Proculus.
“As mentioned in the last film, it was not my intention to make this film ‘anti-Semitic’ in any way, any more than it was ‘anti-Roman’ or ‘anti-Christian.’ I hope that the portrayal of ‘the crowd’ and the various faces within it help to convey this point.
“I’d like to convey a special thank-you to the many people who have contributed voiceovers to this second part (in order that they appear):
