Man, if you loved Blade Runner like I did. You will love this level. I spent most of my time just walking around looking at parts of it and remembering the scenes from the movie that happened there. Man this map simply rocks. It is very well done. Even if the bots don't work very well, this is one map that is one hell of a show piece for what the UT2k3 engine can do. Only down side is the download is huge, but you can't have all this eye candy with out the pretty textures. I can't say enough about this mapYou must play it now
============================================================ Title : 2019 Gametype : UT2003 Deathmatch Version : 1.0 Release Date : January 2002 Filename : DM-2019.zip Author : AngelHeart Web Page : check with me and I'll tell you if its happening yet. Email : firstname.lastname@example.org Description : A big City map. ============================================================ --- Play Information --- Game : Unreal Tournament 2003 Level Name : DM-2019 Botsupport : Yes New Sounds : Yes New Graphics : Yes New Music : No New StaticMeshes : Yes Known bugs : no bugs that I could find After having a look around with all the settings set to full (Holy Sh*t:) I would usualy go back and set the texture quality to low, then its possible to have a great game :) Although I still get a decent game with everything full on, only one or to slow spots. Some places aren't pathed. I see this more as a LAN game than a Bot game. The Bots still can't handle tight spaces very well, so the map will probably only come into its own when played against Human opponents. You will need to have your use key set up to get into some of the locations. It might also make a decent CTF should anyone like to convert it sometime. I have an Athlon 2200, 512 Ram, and a Radion 900 with 128 meg mem. my game settings are Res 1024*768 32 bit gamma 1.10 brightness 0.57 Contrast 0.50 I put this all down because I know how varied game settings can be, causing dark levels, like this one, to look too dark on some peoples machines. Although the UT bots seem to fit quite well into the setting, I have been using the excellent Hitman model which looks just right, so head over to Polycount and see what I mean. http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/downloads/index.asp?model=999 Comments This map is based on the Movie Blade Runner. Fans (like me) will find all their favorite locations, re-interpreted by me, dotted around the map. I hope the few scantily clad, badly made, femail static meshes, which are scattered around the level, don't seem to tastless or anything. They just seemed to fit the theme somehow. The Idea for changing the pickups came very late on, again it seemed like a fun idea. Who wouldn't rather be treated by my new Nurse health packs, than those nice looking, but rather boring blue crosses ;) And a can of Zapp or a big Burger should be all you need to boost that addrenalin :) With this map,all I am is a synthesizer of ideas, all the creative stuff was done years ago by the team that produced the movie. I watch it quite regularly and am still amazed at how believable the whole things seems. To check out the whole scene and find out who all these people are go directly to http://www.bladezone.com/ which is the best Blade Runner site out there, and from where I picked up a lot of great source material and inspiration. A few of the very nice wall textures were taken from the game Mafia, which is IMHO the best looking, and playing, realism based game around at the moment. I've used a few pieces of the Abbadon hardware mesh set, as they seemed to fit the theme. I've taken textures from all over thw web, but found this place http://www.frenchtextures.com/ to have a lot of useful images. Thanks again to the people at Epic for once again releasing the Editor, and giving us ordianry folk the chance to create wierd and wonderful worlds. Its just the best, even though I hate it intensly sometimes when it does things I don't yet understand.
