Author's Notes

--------------

OK, hopefully this makes up for that horrible ONS map I made :p
There is quite a few things I would have liked to put in, but I was so restricted for time because of phase 3 (as I am writing this, phase 3 closes in 30 mins so I'd better hurry up and upload! I only JUST finished the map)
This is probably the first map I've made which I actually enjoy playing for once :)

Things I would have liked to have done:
More detail in general on the temple (no time and too high poly)
More particles, perhaps splashes and waves
Better sky with some actual decent clouds instead of terragen's ugly ones :)
More temple stuff, these caves everywhere were originally going to have temple bits in them but not enough time
More decoration on top of the cliffs, for example, buildings in the backround etc.
Better thematic execution - Stuff like the flag area has no real meaning, it's just a random building and it doesn't look good anyway. Would have liked to have tied the map all together with a solid theme but I didn't have time and I didn't plan it early on.
Proper stuff to identify the base you are in, there is only flags in the middle bit but I didn't want to stick them everywhere because they look horribly out of place. I wanted to perhaps do something like a rock with carvings in it, but didn't have time.
Other misc stuff I can't think of right now

And not surprisingly I didn't have time to do a real beta test and everyone on irc seemed to go into a coma when I asked if anyone wanted to test my map so I am just having to hope that there is nothing majorly wrong with the map.

Please DON'T use any of the meshes or textures without my permission first. I would like to know who is using them, plus if you are thinking of entering a competition or something... ;)
I am thinking of making a proper mesh/texture set with ancient chicoruins-style stuff in. I have a good DM idea I want to make, just whether I will have time to do it.
