If you were into race tracks and Hot Wheels as a kid this map is for you:)
ONS-CataldiPark Read Me ================================================================ Title : ONS-CataldiPark Version : Final Release Date : July 2004 Filename : ons-cataldipark.zip Author : Frank "Beezer" Imbesi Email Address : email@example.com Web Page : None at the moment. Description : An Onslaught map set in the "mini-me universe" of a giant sandbox in a park. Onslaught's unique use of vehicles was just begging to have some hotwheels tracks and sand to drive on. :-) GameType : Onslaught Reccomended Players : 10-16 players. Special Thanks to: ----------------------------------- A big thanks to the folks at UnrealPlayground for answering the many questions I had during this project, and for giving me great feedback from the beta versions and cool suggestions for improvements. Also a very big thanks to the gang at MURC for playtesting and feedback -- especially to SitFlyer who ran the betas on his server so that everyone could find the issues that were not obvious with just bots. Notes --------- I originally wanted to make hot wheels tracks for the Scorpion, and ultimately came up with the idea to set everything in a giant sandbox. I needed a way for players without a vehicle to quickly cross the map and to get to a nearby node so I added jump pads in the form of a giant slingshot. I also used this project to learn custom static mesh modeling (such as the tracks, sand tools, and slingshot), and added several custom textures as well. All static meshes were made using Milkshake which is a quick and easy-to-use 3D modeler. However, it seems to have a few limitations (or I just don't know enough about it), especially regarding texturing and converting over to UT friendly Lightwave Format. Yeah, I need to learn Maya. I'll use that for my next map. ==================================================================== Play Information ------------------------ Game : Unreal Tournament 2004 Level Name : CataldiPark Game Type : Onslaught New Sounds : Several for playground / park atmosphere. I especially like the ice cream truck. New Static Meshes : Hot wheel tracks, slingshot for jump pad, soda can, bottle cap, sand tools, kite, etc. New Textures : Several plastic textures, background playground equipment for skybox, etc., and an Epic texture (sanddune) that was exported into Photoshop to alter the color tones, then imported back into the game. New Music : No Known Issues : Frame rate many be a bit slow on lower end rigs. : The texturing on some of the custom static meshes kinda stink, but they were all made using Milkshake. I'm learning Maya for my next project. Installation : Unzip the ONS-CataldiPar.ut2 file to your UT2004/Maps folder. *\ All customs sounds, textures, and static meshes are embedded into the map file so no seperate packages are necesary \* ==================================================================== Construction -------------------- Editor(s) used : UnrealEd 3.0, Adobe Photoshop 6, Milkshake. Base : Original Construction Time : Quite long -- maybe 175 hrs spread over 3 months. ===================================================================== Other levels by author ---------------------- For UT2003: DM-Murc. A tribute to the gamers at the Maxtrox Users Resource forum. DM-Spelunker. DM and TDM map set in a mining cavern with glimpses of the outside. I'm especially satisfied with the lights flickering on the walls behind the torches. It took a long time getting that projector to work right. ===================================================================== Copyright / Permissions ----------------------- This level is created soley by Frank Imbesi.
