DESCRIPTION:

This InstaGib mutator replaces the normal Super Shock Rifle with the Q Shock Rifle.  The primary feature of the Q Shock Rifle is configurable beam colors.

The Q Shock Rifle currently has the following features:
* Configurable beam colors
* Zoom variant
* Beam coil toggle
* Fire Rate setting
* "Shock Jump" setting
* Reflections setting

INSTALLATION:

Uninstall any prior versions of Q InstaGib before installing this one.

There is an automated ut4mod package or manual zip package available.

To use the ut4mod, simply download and run the QInstaGib_V3.ut4mod.  In order for this to work, you must meet the requirements (UT2004) and have the ut4mod file type properly associated with UT2004.

To perform a manual install instead, download QInstaGib_V3.zip.  Extract the contents to the appropriate directories in your main UT2004 directory.

CONFIGURATION:

ServerPackages->

Q InstaGib uses the bAddToServerPackages value to automate this process.  This option requires the UT2004 3236 patch or higher.  If you are using an older version, you will have to manually add the server packages to your UT2004.ini file.  The UT2004.ini can be found in the System directory.

To add the server packages:
Open the UT2004.ini with a text editor.
Find the section called [Engine.GameEngine].
After the last "ServerPackages=" entry add:
ServerPackages=QInstaGib_V3

Settings->

All settings can be found on the mutator GUI configuration page.  The following is a brief description of each setting:

Add Translocator:  QInstaGib players get a Translocator in their inventory.  Same as normal InstaGib.

Shock Boosting:  Teammates get a big boost when shot by the Q Shock Rifle.  Same as normal InstaGib.

Shock Zoom:  Players get a Zoom Q Shock Rifle.  Requires a level restart for changes to take effect.

Shock Coils:  Displays the shock beam coils.  Disable this setting to remove the coil effect on shock beams.

Shock Fire Rate:  Sets the rate of fire (delay) for the Q Shock Rifle.  The normal stock InstaGib value is 1.1.  Requires a level restart for changes to take effect.

Shock Jump Momentum:  Sets the amount of momentum applied when shock jumping.  Set it to 0 if you aren't a fan of the shock jump.

Shock Reflections:  Sets the number of shock beam reflections.  Set it to 0 for non-reflecting beams.

Random Bot Colors:  Allows bots to select random shock colors when possible.  The Force Colors setting will override this.

Force Colors:  Forces a certain shock color for players.  When enabled, you can force clients or bots to use the shock colors that you want.  You can force team colors in team gametypes or one standard color in non-team gametypes.

Team 1 Shock Color:  Sets the shock color for the red team or for all players in non-team gametypes.  Force Shock Colors must be enabled for this to work.

Team 2 Shock Color:  Sets the shock color for the blue team.  This setting does not affect non-team gametypes.  Force Shock Colors must be enabled for this to work.

Team 3 Shock Color:  Sets the shock color for the green team.  This setting does not affect non-team gametypes.  Force Shock Colors must be enabled for this to work.  Requires a 4 team gametype.

Team 4 Shock Color:  Sets the shock color for the gold team.  This setting does not affect non-team gametypes.  Force Shock Colors must be enabled for this to work.  Requires a 4 team gametype.

Bind Number Keys:  Adds an interaction on clients to bind the number keys to beam colors.  If enabled, all clients on the server will get these bindings.

In certain cases, dedicated servers may not have access to the GUI mutator configuration page.  In these cases, WebAdmin can be used.  These Settings will be located in the WebAdmin Rules group.  You can also change your settings by directly editing the QInstaGib.ini file.  It will be located in the System directory.

These are the possible shock colors (for the server config).
Use the number corresponding to the color you want.
0 = Red
1 = Orange
2 = Yellow
3 = Green
4 = Cyan
5 = Blue
6 = Magenta
7 = White

Client Color Changing->

If the server does not have bZoom enabled, the clients will receive a normal Q Shock Rifle.  This rifle uses Alt Fire to cycle through the shock colors.  Otherwise, Alt Fire will be used to zoom.

If the server enables bBindNumKeys, all clients will receive an interaction that binds the numbers 1-8 to the available shock colors.  Number 9 will set the previous shock color and Number 0 will set the next shock color.

The following console commands are always available to clients with an active Q Shock Rifle:

SetColor <1-8>
Help

Clients can bind these commands in their User.ini file.

These are the possible shock colors (for client commands).
Use the number corresponding to the color you want.
1 = Red
2 = Orange
3 = Yellow
4 = Green
5 = Cyan
6 = Blue
7 = Magenta
8 = White

NOTES:

Q InstaGib was coded and tested with the 3355 patch, but it should work with any retail UT2004 version.  Please report any issues to the e-mail address above.  Feel free to look at and learn from the code, but ask for permission before using any part of it.  Thanks.

CHANGELOG:

03/02/2005- Version 3 complied and tested.  Added colored scorch decals, hit shaders, and headshot messages.  Created a Zoom Q Shock Rifle variant.  Added reflecting beam code and updated the shock jump code to use more realistic physics.  Created a number key interaction and several exec functions to assist clients with beam color changes.  Added dummy mutators to get the InstaGib server browser icon.  Added headshot count in client headshot messages.

02/02/2005- Version 2 compiled and tested.  Added 'Shock Fire Rate' and 'Shock Jump Beam Distance' settings, enabled headshots.
