File Description

Each team starts with one unit, the Commander. This unit is quite possibly the most useful unit in the game. It can build faster than any other, and packes the one-of-a-kind D-gun, which can obliterate practically any obstacle (after chewing off a good chunk of energy mind you). The resources are Energy and Metal. You are able to build Solar Collectors, Wind Generators, Tidal Generators, or geothermal plants to generate energy, and place Metal Extractors to get metal.Note that only construction units can build buildings, and only factories can build units. The goal of the game is to destroy all of the other team's units and buildings. Use everything at your disposal to take out their base, but don't forget to defend your own. Work with your own team members to keep things moving, expand you base, and crush your enemies. Oh, and by the way, its for UT2003 and Ut2004!

Unreal Annihilation
ver Beta 1.00

INTRODUCTION

Unreal Annihilation is an RTS styled modification for Unreal Tournament 2003 or Unreal Tournament 2004. It is based on the hit RTS Total Annihilation, which was released by Cavedog Interactive (Now gone), and quickly became Game of the year. Total Annihilation's major technological advancement was its fully 3d units ans pseudo-3d landscape. This, mixed with the eye-popping explosions and
special effects, made TA an awesome game.
In 2001, FireSlash felt the need to update this game to a more recent engine. Specifically, Unreal Tournament. So, he took up modeling, and produced some quite terrible models, mixed with a poorly designed website and a generally incorrect approach at the whole deal. However, he did not give up, and eventually began to form a team, as well as some actual skill in the webmastering department. Now, Unreal Annihilation is a developed modification built by a team of dedicated workers (who are not paid, thankyou) under the same moronic person who was making those crappy models back in 2001.

GAMEPLAY

Ok, enough with the sob story. Unreal Annihilation was based quite heavily off Total Annihilation, hence most of the interface is based off the same ideas. Anyone familiar with an RTS should have little trouble.
Build Solar Collectors, Wind Generators, Tidal Generators, or geothermal plants to generate energy, and place Metal Extractors to get metal. Note that both Metal Extractors and Geothermal Power Plants require the correct map feature to work (Look for metal patches and geothermal vents near where you started). Note that only construction units can build buildings, and only factories can build units.
The goal of the game is to destroy all of the other team's units and buildings. Use everything at your disposal to take out their base, but don't forget to defend your own. Work with your own team members to keep things moving, expand you base, and crush your enemies.

TEAM MEMBERS

* Christopher 'FireSlash' Kadar - Team leader, webmaster, PHP monkey, "and stuff". (Whatever that means)
* Michael 'MBisME' Burke - He doesn't really do much work on the team, other than PR and motivation via a three pronged sharpish object.
* JamesKilton - Lead coder. Remember that delay on April 20th? Yeah, thats his fault. On the other hand, this project would be pretty much nothing without him, so mail him a pizza or something.
* John 'Lupin[lvl]' Loving - This is the guy who made practically every model in the game. (I made the solar collector, so HA! -- FireSlash).
* Fluid - Fluid is a modeler, but his primary task tends to be being lazy. He is trying to turn things around for the core side.
* NineInchNeil - Don't be fooled by the bad Nine Inch Nails spoof, Neil did a good chunk of the animations, along with Gibbz.
* EvilMonkey - He is evil. He is a monkey. He skinned every unit in the game. ph34r.
* Bjørn - He hasn't left us yet, but at the moment he is unable to do any work.
* RGD2 - RGD2 has done some coding. I think.
* Gibbz - Animator, he works on another mod in his spare time.
* JonAzz - Don't mind JonAzz's bitching, he has had to re-work a number of maps after james changed the codebase on him. Either way, his maps are still awesome.
* Wallace - When he isn't mapping, I think he takes lessons from Fluid in being lazy.
* Martin 'Killer' Scheer - Coder, Killer did a lot of work on the menus, as well as a good chunk of code in various other places.
* Nicholas "Cynix" Tasker - Genius musician who wrote all of those TA-style music tracks.

CONTRIBUTERS

* DJ Arcas - Some of our sound effects (The ones currently in-game) were done by him, but he had to quit after work started getting bad.
* Sir_Brizz - Brizz was a coder, but he left after Real Life caught up with him.
* Czar{BSS} - One of our first modelers (With skill, meaning not me), he did the peewee and bulldog models we still use.
* avn5000 - While not being a team member, avn5000 did all of the music which probably didn't make it into the first release anyway.
* Forsaken - Most of the original UT code was done by Forsaken and Bjørn.
* PhantomBlast - Much of the early code debugging was done by him. I can't count the number of Accessed Nones he snuffed out.
* Stealth470 - All of those uber-sexy buildpics? Those were his work. Bow Down.
* Mjr_Hurtz - He contributed some very well done maps into the first BETA

THANKS TO

* Chris Taylor - Because TA is so much fun.
* Epic and DE - For making such an awesome game.
* Atari/Infogrames - For not sueing us (yet)
* The people in #unrealscript on ETG - For helping me with my constant n00bish questions
* The community - Because you guys rock, AND didn't kill anyone after the delay.

==================================BETA NOTES================================

Known problems/bugs:
Everything.

Ok, a more specific list...
-Air units don't really work
-Water units do NOT work
-The mod crashes the game
-Weapons don't work on structures
-Animations are messed up somewhat
-Repair doesn't work
-On-Line play may be a bit choppy depending on your connection and the speed of the server, and not working completely right (small gliches)
-And to be honest, I have no idea how the mod works with more than 2 people playing
-Unit AI is dumb and blind. They will not attack on site, you have to explicitly tell them to attack, however...
-Turrets DO work, somewhat, so defend your base well.

Note from a team member-

Please remember, this is a beta, our first beta, and as much it's not really that playable. This WILL get better, we're just offering a taste of what's to come (and to have something out for Phase III :D). So, with that in mind, enjoy what we've put lots of time into. The Unreal engine can be very unfriendly sometimes. Thanks for the support and the help (#unrealscript, what would I do w/out you).

-James Kilton, almost sane.
