A press release from Midway has confirmed that the PC version of Unreal Tournament 3 will ship on 23rd November, with the PS3 version released "shortly afterwards". Retail price will be £34.99 (€48.92), with the Collector's Edition priced at £39.99 (€55.91). To quote the original press release....
Midway and Epic today announce that Unreal Tournament 3 is currently scheduled to ship in Europe on November 23rd. Developed by the team behind the critically acclaimed video game Gears of War, Unreal Tournament 3 will ship in Europe for the PC with a suggested retail price of £34.99 and £39.99 for the collector's edition. The PlayStation®3 version will follow soon.
This is also probably common knowledge by now, but we have also received confirmation that Unreal Tournament 3 will use GameSpy Arcade as it's multiplayer lobby technology. This includes various standard features such as VoIP technology and enhanced player statistics, as well as in-game instant messenger functions similar to those provided by Xfire. Possibly the most exciting bit of news for modders, is that UT3's modding kits will include SpeedTree, advanced foliage generation technology which was used to generate most if not all of the organic plantlife in not only Unreal Tournament 3 but also several other new releases. This is the first time SpeedTree has been made available to non-professional modders, so you guys should have some fun with it. And just to complete the update, here's a few extra screenshots for y'all to drool over, as well as the PC/PS3 box art. No word on an X360 version yet, it would seem.
